FEATURED THURSDAY: David Jay

Of course we'll begin with him.

I have seen many great wedding photographers. And I was awed by their work. But David Jay stood out. Believe me it was because of his photographs, not because I find him cute :P.

It's not only his photographs and his artistry that caught my eye and attention, but also his work ethic,

"I think that's where a lot of photographers miss out. They think it's all about their art, where in reality it's all about their attitude."

and his life philosophy,

"I think that most people approach life looking for happiness and comfort and I used to as well but not any more. Now I think about growing and fulfilling my purpose that I am slowly discovering through prayer."

All this wisdom coming from a very young man (he's younger than me!) just draws this immense admiration from anyone who listens and sees. I listened and I saw... and was amazed.

TUESDAY FUNNY: cats & dogs, men & women

CAT ANALYSIS:

1. Cats do what they want.
2. They rarely listen to you.
3. They're totally unpredictable.
4. When you want to play, they want to be left alone.
5. When you want to be left alone, they want to play.
6. They expect you to cater to their every whim.
7. They're moody.
8. They leave hair everywhere.

CONCLUSION: THEY'RE TINY WOMEN IN LITTLE FUR COATS.

DOG ANALYSIS:

1. Dogs spend all day sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house.
2. They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don't hear you when you're in the same room.
3. They can look dumb and lovable all at the same time.
4. They growl when they are not happy.
5. When you want to play, they want to play.
6. When you want to be alone, they want to play.
7. They leave their toys everywhere.
8. They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a kiss.

CONCLUSION: THEY ARE TINY MEN IN LITTLE FUR COATS.

We had faded jeans... now it's shoes?

Kenneth Cole Reaction Barder
photo from zappos.com
I saw these shoes at Macy's and they looked scuffed and worn out. I loved it! So I bought it. A lot complimented on my shoes. Then I found the picture on the left from zappos.com and the color/leather looked brand new and unworn. Then in the reviews section, people complain about the color fading too easily. Was it not supposed to be that way? Like how I like my jeans, faded and looking worn?

Now I want to buy this pair below. Should I get pewter or black?

Loremy's bridal shower

Here are some of the pictures I've taken from Mitty's (that's her nickname :P) bridal shower. It was a surprise by the way.

Bride's mom and aunt peeking
through the window waiting for the bride

She's here!

The bride know nothing of the shower

The beautiful bride...

with blue tongue!

sex offenders in your area

We most often think home is our safe haven. The place we go to, to relax and at night, trust enough to keep us safe when we fall asleep.

Most of us, if not all are aware that we cannot trust everybody that easily. So we practice caution in dealing with people. But we are used to this. It's like an instinct that we carefully choose who we talk to, who we get close to.

But what if you get to learn that a neighbor of yours, or
the person who passes by your street where your kids play, or
the person you talk to about the weather on your way to work, or
the person you see on the subway every morning,
...was a sex offender?

Become aware of sex offenders in your area by using the search tool at www.familywatchdog.us. Below is my map. Click to see a bigger area.

The small squares in red, yellow, or green are the homes of sex offenders. The bigger purple squares with an unidentifiable school drawn on it are schools.

Where are the fireworks?

It's 4th of July and it's my 2nd year anniversary with John as well. So where are the fireworks? Yea, maybe I should wait til dark. But if only John is here... *wink* *wink*.

John and I couldn't be together for the long weekend due to the current situation I am in right now. See previous posts for details. This anniversary is record-breaking thus deserves a celebration! It's the longest I've been with a man lol. Though I'm quite positive this will last a LOT longer :). I love this man!

weekly features

I decided to make weekly featured posts that may (or not) be posted weekly. Here are some that I can think of. If you have any suggestions, add your comment to this post.

Monday FINDS
will feature deals, great bargains, cool sites, great online tools, etc for the week.

Tuesday FUNNYs
will feature a joke or two

FEATURED Thursday
will feature a photographer and my favorite photo(s) of his/hers

*Take note that I may not post these regularly or weekly. Though I'll try my best to do so. I'll start next week.

Christian music

I never really listened to Christian music. I cannot say the reason was because I didn't like it. I never even tried listening to it coz I guess it never appealed to me. Then I saw David Jay's website. Him again? Well, what can I say? He's what I aspire to be.

Most, if not all the music David Jay used on his slideshows featured on his website are Christian music. And they're great! Click the play button below to hear a sample of No One Like You by Barlow Girl.

travel tips

I have included my own travel tips in my Travel page. But since not everyone can access my personal website, I thought it would be helpful to post it here:

  • Research your destination.|AMP|nbsp; Go to www.towd.com to find the link to your destination's official tourism site.|AMP|nbsp; Request a free travel guide sent to your home if available or print out important info.

  • Join online forums.|AMP|nbsp;|AMP|nbsp; They are a great tool that provides views and tips from locals and visitors.|AMP|nbsp; It's also the easy way to ask your questions and get answers fast.|AMP|nbsp; You may also meet new friends here.|AMP|nbsp; For general travel forum, go to www.flyertalk.com

  • Don't settle with one or two travel agents or online sites.|AMP|nbsp; For airfares, use the farewatcher at www.kayak.com or www.tripadvisor.com.|AMP|nbsp; To purchase tickets, compare fare quotes from www.sidestep.com, www.kayak.com, www.flycheapabroad.com, and your destination's local airline's website, among others.

  • Airfares vary all the time and the availability of promotions and discounts are hard to predict.|AMP|nbsp; So don't decide on WHEN you should book, but do some fare watching.|AMP|nbsp; If possible, begin using the farewatcher a year early.|AMP|nbsp; Then ask around (i.e. forums) and do some search at|AMP|nbsp; www.farecompare.com of what usually is a good deal for your vacation time.|AMP|nbsp; If you find a good deal, get it.|AMP|nbsp; Though a lot of times last-minute airfares are cheapest, I suggest purchasing your ticket no later than 6 weeks before your vacation even if you don't get the best deal.

  • For great deals, subscribe to Travelzoo.com's Top 20 and your favorite airlines.
